Is there a hidden meaning in the six numbers 4 8 15 16 23 42 that have appeared on ABC's TV show LOST? Some theories center around using various mathematical combinations of these numbers.
For the analyses presented here, we are going to limit ourselves to simple mathematical operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
More advanced ideas can be found elsewhere: Binary representations.
In the table below, Squish is a function that takes the listed numbers and simply squeezes the digits together removing the spaces, e.g., Squish(1,2,3)=123.
For some of the combinations, we've treated the 8 and 15 as 815 since it has an important role in several episodes such as the flight number. Similarly, there is also some belief that the number 42 is meant to be treated differently from the rest since it appears as the Mega ball in the lottery draw.
