Storm damage from July 7, 2003
The first part of July 2003 has seen storm after storm roll
through the midwest. Around 5:30 pm on July 7, 2003 a strong
storm hit the Athens, Ohio area. The wind was very strong and
blew from about every direction before it was over. The first
picture below was taken out my front window. Notice how the tops
of the trees are bending from the wind. The second picture was
taken later in the evening. The toys were blown out of the
pool. Notice the corner of the fence in the background.
Late in the evening, the tree just behind the fence broke in two at
almost exactly halfway up. It hinged over and was hanging on
the fence. The third picture was taken the next morning after
I had removed some of the tree from the fence. The fourth
picture is a close up of the break.
